This is a picture I took at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, MI. I loved this installation, my heart connected with this room that was full of words. The thought of beginning a blog reminded me of this artwork. The world is so full of words and images. What do I have to say and show that could possibly add to this overabundance of information? Do I belong in this chair? This is my new experiment to see what happens. It begins today, 2-10-14.
Yesterday my daughter helped me create a Facebook Page for my artwork. I've added a few albums sampling my work. I'll try to add to them periodically.

It's always difficult to decide what goes into an exhibit. There are so many things to consider! This is the 2nd show with Mary celebrating 10 years of our weekly painting sessions together.
Here's my short list of what I'm thinking right now for this show at a local concert hall: Do I want to show any shorter experimental work? Or just lengthier more complete pieces... Do I show a variety of styles and themes that showcase a more rounded view of my work? Or one voice that is focused... Do I show a combination of current and past work? Or a best of the best show... Do I stick with what I showed in the first exhibit- though the venue is completely different? Or pick and choose to switch it up a bit for people who come to both shows... I know we definitely want to exhibit pieces that we did looking at the same still life such as these flowers that are currently hanging at IGC. |
