Drawing can be so relaxing! It's a wonderful way to unwind after a hectic day. Of course it's always great to draw in a group and chat, that always makes it all the more fun.
This week we drew baskets so we could continue working on form, and shading. Now we are adding texture. The overlapping of the weaving is a challenge. Remember to get the basic shapes first. Sketch them in lightly. Next, start shading to establish form. Use your value scale to make sure you cover a full range of values. Small details come later.
For more practice at home, take time to draw overlapping objects this week. Set up a still life with 3 overlapping objects that are larger than 2 feet. For instance, a lamp, a chair, and a blanket. Try to find objects with interesting textures.
Drawing takes time, so don't rush anything. Relax and enjoy the process. Try to sit in a comfortable spot with plenty of light. Put on some music, and enjoy your favorite drink while you draw. Make this a good experience that you look forward to.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! You are doing such a great job in this class! I love seeing your progress.
See you Next week!
