I could see the care you are taking to put into practice the skills that we have gone over. Your work on the elipse, form, symmetry, and shading is great. Bravo for you!
Tonight we worked on the value scale. I want to encourage you to have at least 8 value changes in your still life pictures. Hold the value scale up to the still life, and to your drawing and check your work. Do you have enough darks and lights, or is your entire picture in the midtones? Remember to stand back and look at your work from a distance. Do you have enough contrast?
Homework this week is to find objects that are all white and set up a still life. You might want to light it to exaggerate the shadows and add drama. Really notice the value changes and gradations. Draw the still life concentrating on value this week. Notice shapes, curved lines, and angular lines.
Extra credit for practicing shading basic forms, and "tornados". :)
For class next week bring one object to include in a still life. We will discuss arrangement and composition.
You are a great class! It is such a pleasure to be with you each week. See you next Thursday.
